You are not required to write logs within any set amount of time, though if a long stretch without contact occurs, you may be removed from the mailstring. Please let us know if you will be gone for a length of time, however, so we can plan for your character's absence within the storyline.
Logs are written in English in basic prose format. It is asked, therefore, that you use standard prose format, and obey the basic rules of grammar. This website is useful as a refresher course; please study it if you have any questions regarding grammar.
Do not send mail which will affect the game without host approval. Do not send mail which will affect another player without their permission.
Once you have written your log, please post a copy to the Briefings & Logs forum as well as mailing it to the Nocturne's Reign yahoogroup.
Please submit a draft of your character biography to the host before making it public.
Please keep the following in mind when creating a biography for your character:
Due to the nature of the game, Vampires in and around Fort Collins are generally less than 200 years old. If you are interested in creating a vampire from a specific time period or wish to include certain events in his or her background that fall outside of this range, please contact your GMs for special consideration.
Vampires often gain a wide variety of special abilities after turning and learn to develop and hone them as they age. Rarer abilities, specifically day-walking, are reserved for the most ancient of vampires and are limited to GM characters only, or by special permission.
Elder vampires often hold offices of power and influence as area Masters or Council members. Master and Council positions are limited to GM characters only, or by special permission.
With increased encroachment of humans into lycan territory, it only stands to reason that lycan-human incidents have also increased. With this in mind, the majority of werewolves in the Fort Collins area are generally less than 100 years old with the eldest being no more than 200. If you are interested in creating a lycanthrope from a specific time period or wish to include certain events in his or her background that fall outside of this range, please contact your GMs for special consideration.
Lycanthropes assume two forms - one wolven and one beast-like. The secondary were-beast form can only be assumed by older and more experienced lycans. Newly changed werewolves (generally less than 50 years old) can only assume the more natural wolf form.
Only the strongest and most powerful werewolves are able to hold the position of Pack Alpha. Pack Alpha positions are limited to GM characters only, or by special permission.
If you plan on expanding a character (particularly a Master of a city outside Fort Collins), please do notify the hosts of your ideas before doing much writing; this way if we need to modify your idea, you haven't expended gobs of energy on a project that will need rewritten.
The mailstring is considered confidential. Giving out email addresses or other contact information of other players is frowned upon.
